Southern
writers rock. I don’t know why. They have something. Sometimes writers are in
groups, like French Existentialists, Beats, Russians, and more. I think
Southern American writers are something like that. Think of it, - Faulkner, McCarthy,
William Styron, and there are more. This book, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter,
should get at least one point before it is being opened for having perhaps one
of the coolest titles ever. And the book is excellent. It covers the topics of
friendship and era and race, or time and loss. It’s not difficult to read, but
that is not because the writing is simplistic, but rather because it is written
by a pro. This is a book that everyone should read.
