THE MEMORY KEEPER'S DAUGHTER BY KIM EDWARDS

I read this book years ago. My feeling is that this author relates an interesting story in a clear and concise manner while still providing insights into the psychology of the characters. The book is about family and secrets, about love and time. It can be difficult to sift through contemporary literature to find the gems, but I believe this such a gem. I know the author has written other works, among them a successful book of short stories, but I have not had time to get to them. Reading the Memory Keeper’s Daughter I felt I was involved in a suspenseful family drama that took me through the years, and for the author’s skill and patience, I felt I was on this side of literature as opposed to that side of thriller or modern drama. This was a book that I was able to enjoy, but a work that also spawned reflection. This is a solid book written by a really competent and engaging writer.

RATING 7.5/10
